http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9316916/For some bizarre reason they've decided to include an individual named "Horatio" in their list, which, as we all know, is the name of my small relative, despite the dogged insistence of her parents to the otherwise.
Lows in the 30's right now, even though it was 93 degrees five days
ago. This is our third consecutive day that it hasn't reached 80.
I wish it could be winter all of the time.
One from 1958 (cost me 99 cents!) one from 1944, and one from
1909. I promise that I'll quit with the posts about atlases
now.
Also pushed a new website into production today, and that was a
bit stressful, but it all came together so "all's well that ends well"
as they say.
This is a super-sweet one, from 1914. I can't wait for it to get here! :-)
I know, I know...These daily updates about my book shopping are getting
old for you, and you're bored. If I had anything else to say, I
would. Maybe I will soon. You can always hope.
Didn't win much. Got
Gray's Anatomy from 1949 for nine bucks. Lost a couple of auctions. Nothing I had my heart set on, though the 2 volume set:
The Military History of Ulysses S. Grant,
published in 1881 would have been nice. I didn't feel like
getting into a bidding war on it though, so I let it go when the price
went too high. Maybe another day.
A two-volume biography of Abraham Lincoln, and a biography of Stonewall Jackson. Both from the late 19th century.
I just added an atlas printed in 1924 to the collection. It's been a good day. :-)
It's official.

And to that end, today I've won two atlases on EBay...One printed in
1938, and one printed in 1891. I've got atlases from several
other time periods that I'm looking at as well. If all goes well,
by the end of the week I should have atlases from before, during, and
after both World War I and World War II.
I never thought about dogs being lazy and incompetent at their jobs.

And surprise surprise, it's the Japanese who've done it.

It's quite pleasing to see that my small relative, Horatio, seems to be
active, learning, and growing like a weed despite fearful reactions to
most of this earth's foodstuffs. Oh well. She likes beef,
which means she likes steak, which means that she's ok in my
book.
